After Sacrament Meeting we looked around the church building. I facetimed mom so that she could see the inside of the building. Then I took her outside and showed it to her. For a little while we were confused and wondered if they had torn down the whole building because it was a little bit different from the pictures she sent to me of her days as a missionary. Most noticeably different was the absence of the characters indicating the name of the church down the front of the church. Where there had once been a little garden/grass area there was now only a parking lot, and it wasn't until I looked really closely that I could see where the characters had been removed from the church wall and painted over! I got up close so that mom could see too! I was so happy that I noticed and was able to show mom exactly where she stood in the picture she sent me from 40 years ago!
After church we walked around Kwun Tong for a little while! We found Kung Lok Road which is where mom used to live and we walked down the whole street. We didn't have an exact address to look for, but I'm sure mom walked up and down that street many times! We sat and ate some lunch in a small park before heading toward home. On our way we were looking for some of the famous H block buildings but as it turned out, they've all been torn down and replaced with huge apartment buildings! Of course we did see all the laundry hanging outside people's windows to dry!
We took a short nap at home and then Corbin elected to stay home and hang out while Spencer and I left to explore the rest of mom's mission! We went to Tsuen Wan first! It's all the way west and surrounds a beautiful little harbor! Spencer and I walked around for a bit and enjoyed ourselves a Wai Ta Li and then headed over to Mei Foo!
In Mei Foo we walked around a beautiful park! By the time we got there it was getting pretty dark! One thing that continually amazes me about Hong Kong are the views everywhere you go! They never disappoint! Everywhere we've been in the city we've had an amazing!
I'm so grateful that we were able to spend today exploring my mom's mission and the areas of Hong Kong that I heard so much about as a kid! What a blessing! I love that I get to share this place with mom 💗
