Hong Kong Day 2

Today was our first full day in Hong Kong and it couldn't have been better! We woke up to a little bit of rain, but were hopeful that it would clear up and that we would still get to do everything we had planned...and it did! I was so grateful! We headed over to Victoria Peak on Hong Kong Island first! We took a bus all the way to the top of the peak and then did the Peak Circle Walk which is about a 2.5 mile walk around Victoria Peak! It gave us gorgeous views of Hong Kong, Victoria Harbor, and Hong Kong Island! It's also through a bunch of thick trees and we saw some pretty huge spiders hanging out on their webs. I'm talking the size of my hand huge! I tried really hard not to think about it but I kept seeing them and it grossed me out a bit. It was a hot and humid day! Much more humid than Seoul!

After we finished the Peak Circle Walk we ate our lunch and then went back down the peak toward the mid-level escalators! The mid-level escalators in Central is the longest outdoor covered escalator system in the world! There are a bunch of restaurants and shops and temples along the escalators! We went to the Man Mo Temple. It was a very small Taoist temple. There was so much incense being burned inside it made it really difficult to breathe! We didn't stay very long because of the smell and all the smoke!

Next we headed over to Hong Kong Park! We got to see the Olympic Square, some really pretty gardens, an aviary, and a little turtle sanctuary! It was a nice change of pace to wander around the park! On our way to the park we came across a cool mosque!

On our way home, we decided to do the observation wheel right on the pier in central! It was the best choice we ever made! It cost us $2USD per person for a 20 minute ride on the observation wheel. We got on right as the sun was going down so we got a gorgeous view of the harbor and the skyline before the lines started! We only waited about 15 minutes to get on! By the time we got off, the wait was probably an hour or more! Hong Kong really is a beautiful city! I'm blown away by how big everything is!

By time we had dinner (McDonalds...) and headed home it was getting late! Our first full day in Hong Kong was a success! Can't wait for the adventures to come!
