Hong Kong Day 4

Today was the day I had been waiting for all trip! Dragon's Back!! It had been described as a gorgeous hike with the best view and I was excited! We knew it was a long hike, and it was pretty far away, so we tried to get up early to get at it in good time! Of course, McDonald's again for breakfast, stupid McDonald's, if only there were another option, and we began the trek to Dragon's Back!

It took around an hour to get there! We took the subway to Hong Kong Island and then found the bus to take us there. There was a huge line for the bus, so we figured we were in the right place cuz everyone would be hiking the peak! Well we were right about the bus, but wrong about the people! When we got to our stop no one got off the bus, so we second guessed ourselves and didn't get off, but it definitely had been our stop.. So we ended up two stops past where we needed to be.... So we began the walk back to the beginning of the hike, Amy and I are walking in front and we see a taxi, we start to muse out loud, "Maybe we should just take a taxi?" And Corbin from the back says, "Don't worry guys, I already got him!" We look back and sure enough, she had her arm up and the taxi stopped for us! Haha we got to ride in one of those cool old-school looking taxis with the steering wheel on the opposite side! Good 'ole Corbin!

So we get to the trailhead with no problems, and as we start walking up the trail, this cute family with two super young kids is walking down. Corbin looks at us and says, "If they can do it, I can do it." I think we were all feeling the same after Kowloon Peak yesterday! It was an easy up though. Really not very far to the first "peak," I put the quotation marks because there were like seven peak points of the dragon's back! Once we got to that first one we could see the other peaks and it looked so cool! It was kind of like walking on across the top of the mountain, which gave the feeling like we were walking on a dragon. It was absolutely stunning up there! There were gorgeous views all around! We were close to the ocean, so we saw a lot of water and beaches! There were some islands out there too that were very pretty! As we were going up and down "peaks" there were signs that indicated the side for bikes to ride, but if anyone rode with a bike, they were going to have a bad time. There were so many huge rocks in the way and I have no clue how you'd get up... But to each their own!

Once we got to the fourth or fifth peak it was all downhill from there! We had a good time walking and talking and enjoying the beautiful scenery through the trees! After a couple of hours we finally got to the beach! Big Waves Bay is what it was called!

We were all so pooped, and I was already sunburned, so first things first, we got ourselves a couple of Wai Ta Li's and some water! After changing we headed to the water! It was surprisingly warm! Well, there were warm spots and cold spots, and Alex wasn't there, so we are pretty sure it was actually the water! (^_-) The unfortunate thing was the nastiness of the water. It was green and there were way too many UFOs (unidentified floating objects)... Needless to say we did not stay too long, but still were there a couple hours. We found our way to the bus and headed back home! We had Yoshinoya, a Japanese beef bowl place that I like a lot! All in all it was a really good day, if you can't tell from the pictures!
